Our story

How it started...

Waiting for my rugby team to arrive one Saturday, pre-match meet, in our local pub, the landlord and team sponsor approached me with a problem, all too familiar in the industry. Two of his afternoon bar staff had called in sick, and him knowing I own a recruitment company myself, he asked for my help.

The problem

The conversation that followed picked apart the barriers facing employers and those looking for flexible, part-time or casual work. Availability, suitability, Right To Work compliance checks, gathering references, mutually agreed wages, and so many more factors that create delays in the hiring process.

The solution

  • Are there agencies with suitable staff and ready to go? Probably.
  • Are they available at short notice? Unlikely.
  • Do they charge around 20% for their services? Definitely.

It was at this point I decided there must be a solution that benefits the hospitality business; small, developing, or well-established; and the eager people looking for shifts to suit them.

And so, SHIFTpro is born.
